The Open Face Arai Urban-V combines the design and style of a vintage helmet, with the state-of-the-art level of protection, comfort and ventilation you expect from Arai. No detail has been left to chance, such as the eco-leather finishes with visible stitching and the classic embroidered interiors, but equipped with modern technical features capable of ensuring maximum protection and comfort, such as a more resistant outer shell and a non-visible ventilation system, integrated inside the shell. General

Outer shell: PB-cLc2 (Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction)

The Arai Peripheral Belt patent, inherited directly from the F-1 helmets, greatly increases the strength and flexibility of the shell, while maintaining a low weight and an extremely low center of gravity. Placed just above the visor opening, this reinforcement allows us to achieve a thinner EPS, improving the field of view. To complete the Super Fiber Laminate, a "mechanically expanded" fiber is used that helps to reinforce and secure the various layers of Super Fiber, without adding weight. The newly formulated "Z-Mixture" resins allow the use of a greater amount of fibre with the same strength and rigidity, allowing us to create an even lighter and thinner outer shell, without compromising safety.

Ventilation

The air enters from three channels located in the front, flows through the shell absorbing the heat to escape from the Venturi effect extraction system housed on the Neck-Pad.

Integrated ventilation system

It allows to evacuate the hot air from the helmet through three holes located in the EPS lining, towards the double outlet ports with Venturi effect.

Input channels integrated into the interior

The three inlet channels integrated in the front area, have been inherited directly from our Racing range, allow fresh air to enter the inside of the helmet and circulate more easily to the top of the head.

Rear ventilation

It creates a low pressure zone at the back of the shell, forcing hot air out through the vents thanks to the Venturi effect.

Antibacterial material interiors

They help maintain a neutral acidity level similar to that of human skin and boast deodorant properties. For a more comfortable and easier fit we have developed an even more delicate coating material. The interiors are also equipped with removable micro-padding on the temples and cheeks to further customise the fit.

Interchangeable inner pillows

Pillows can be easily removed. All interiors (even non-removable ones) can be washed with lukewarm water and neutral soap. Rinse thoroughly after washing and never dry in direct sunlight or near heat sources. All removable interiors can be customised with different sizes/thicknesses to perfectly fit the user's head.

Speaker pockets

Integrated communication systems are widespread, but the problem is often that the space for the speakers is limited or simply not there, thus causing annoying pressure points on the ears. Equipped with special speaker pockets, offering space for installation without compromising comfort or fit. (Speakers not included).

To minimize the impact energy penetrating the helmet, it is critical that a helmet can slide over a surface. Arai believes that a strong, round, and smooth shell helps increase the helmet's ability to protect the rider during an impact. Caps with sharp edges or air intakes that do not break can reduce the helmet's ability to slip, transmit energy to the helmet, or even dangerously increase rotational energy.

Five inspections

Each Arai helmet undergoes five different quality checks. After making the helmet, after painting and graphics, after assembly and two inspections during the process.

Washable interior.

The premium interior of Arai helmets can be washed easily, without being removed, with mild soap and lukewarm water.

Made by Hand

It can take up to five years for our experts to get certified to make an Arai canopy. Each shell can take up to 27 work steps and it takes about 18 hours to create an Arai helmet.

All-day comfort is ensured by the different shapes and types of fit of the Arai interior together with the best lining materials and the extensive ventilation system. And thanks to the perfect balance and weight distribution, you almost feel like you're not wearing a helmet.

Penetration Testing Services

All Arai helmets undergo penetration testing, despite the fact that European regulations do not require it. Arai's penetration test involves a 3kg wedge being dropped onto the helmet from a height of 3 metres.

Double D-ring strap

The flat and D-rings fit the chin perfectly. No moving parts, no corrosion problem and just pull the tab to untie the strap.

Smoother cap, more protection

The smooth outer shell of Arai helmets is designed to slide without unnecessary resistance. We build the helmet so that it does not cause excessive deceleration. This is why all vents and ducts are designed to detach in the event of an impact.

Rigid outer shell, soft inner shell

Arai uses a very strong outer shell to dissipate forces in the event of an impact and a soft inner shell to absorb residual energy. The differentiated density EPS inner shell is made with an exclusive technology that combines three to five different densities in a single element.

Anatomical Shape

The anatomical shape of the outer shell of an Arai helmet ensures a more natural appearance, a better fit and adaptation to the natural shape of the head for greater comfort and fit and to reduce disturbances generated by turbulence caused by the air.

5-year limited warranty

All Arai helmets are covered by a warranty for manufacturing and material defects valid only against the original purchaser and for products of the correct size, for a period of 5 years from the date of first use, but no later than 7 years from the date of production.

Different outer shell every two sizes

Unlike other manufacturers, Arai offers a different outer shell size every two helmet sizes for most models. Along with the different shapes of outer shell for the different models it is practically impossible not to find the one that suits you.

Internal Standard

This helmet is designed to meet the strict Arai internal standard, in addition to mandatory approvals, such as the ECE standard.
